Paddle Creek Paints ("we," "us," "our") operates paddlecreekpaints.com — a single page showcasing hand-painted artwork by Mary, the artist behind the studio. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and how it is used.

We are a small, one-person home studio in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. We do not sell personal information, and we do not have a sales team, ad network, or data broker relationship of any kind. Questions about this policy can be sent to paddlecreekpaints@gmail.com.

The two forms on this site, and how they differ

This site has two separate forms. They collect different information, for different reasons, and neither one adds you to the other's list.

Claim My 10% Off (the discount signup)

This form asks for one thing: your email address. Submitting it does two things, both stated plainly next to the form before you submit:

  • We send you a one-time email containing your 10% discount code.
  • We add your email to DiscountLeads, a mailing list we may use to send occasional marketing email about new pieces, custom work, seasonal offerings, and special offers.

Submitting this form is how you agree to both of those things — the disclosure appears directly beneath the form itself, not only here. We do not ask for your name, phone number, or mailing address for this list, and we never will.

Unsubscribing. You can ask to be removed from this list at any time by replying to any email we send you, or by writing to paddlecreekpaints@gmail.com. We currently review and process removal requests by hand rather than through an automated link — see the note at the end of this section.

Start a Piece / commission inquiries

This form asks for your name, email, the surface you'd like painted, what you would like painted, an optional occasion, and — if you tapped through from a piece in the catalogue — which piece you were looking at. It is stored separately, in CommissionLeads, and used only to respond to your inquiry about a custom piece.

Submitting a commission inquiry does not sign you up for marketing email, and does not add you to DiscountLeads. The two forms, the two sheets, and the two purposes are kept completely separate. If you would also like the 10% discount, you're welcome to submit that form separately.

A note on the unsubscribe process, in the interest of being exact: as of this writing, DiscountLeads does not yet have an automated one-click unsubscribe link built into the marketing emails themselves. Removal requests made by replying or emailing us directly are honored manually. Before any recurring marketing campaign (beyond the one-time welcome/discount-code email) is sent from this list, we intend to add a reliable, low-friction way to opt out directly from the email itself.

How submissions are processed and stored

Both forms submit to a Google Apps Script Web App, which validates the information, records it in a Google Sheet, and sends the confirmation emails described above. That means:

  • Your form data is stored in a Google Sheet within our Google account, subject to Google's own privacy practices for Google Workspace / Apps Script infrastructure.
  • Email addresses are checked and stored in a consistent lowercase form so we don't accidentally create duplicate records for the same person.
  • We use standard safeguards against automated spam submissions and malformed data, but no online system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

Emails you may receive from us

The emails this site sends are limited to:

  • A one-time welcome email with your discount code, if you use the 10% offer.
  • Occasional marketing email about new pieces, custom work, and offers, if you signed up for the 10% offer (see above).
  • A reply to your commission inquiry, if you use the Start a Piece form.

We do not send text messages or use SMS for any purpose, and we do not ask for a phone number anywhere on this site.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity

This site uses (or is being prepared to use — see the note below) two analytics tools to understand how visitors use the page, so we can make it better:

  • Google Analytics 4 — collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address, not precise GPS), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It uses cookies and similar technology. We have not enabled advertising features, ad personalization, or Google Signals for this property — it is used for plain traffic and usage analytics only.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymized session behavior (such as scrolling and click patterns) and generates heatmaps, to help us see which parts of the page are actually useful. It also uses cookies.

As of this writing, neither tool is fully activated — the site is configured so that a real tracking ID must be added before either service loads at all; see the technical note at the end of this policy for exactly what that means.

Neither Google Analytics nor Microsoft Clarity, as configured here, sells your personal information or shares it for cross-context behavioral advertising. See our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page for more detail.

Your choices about analytics cookies

  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
  • Google provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
  • Microsoft Clarity's own cookie documentation explains what it sets and how to control it.
  • We do not currently respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as there is no common industry standard for how to honor them.

Hosting

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Simply loading any page on this site means your request passes through GitHub's servers, which may log standard web request information (such as IP address) according to GitHub's own privacy statement. We do not control or have access to those server logs ourselves.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If how we collect or use information changes in a meaningful way, we will update this page and its "Last updated" date above.

Questions about this policy, or a request about your information, can be sent to paddlecreekpaints@gmail.com.

For anyone reviewing the technical implementation: the GA4 Measurement ID and Microsoft Clarity Project ID are both configured in one place, js/analyticsConfig.js, and both fields are intentionally left blank until real IDs exist. Neither analytics script is inserted into the page at all while its ID is blank — so nothing is currently being sent to Google or Microsoft from this site. This policy describes the site as it is designed to operate once those IDs are added, so that it does not need to be rewritten the moment analytics is switched on.
